The physiological effects of yoga

imagesI often have guests in the yoga class struggling with excess weight, some kind of medical problem or just at older age. They usually say they wouldn’t succeed in rehabilitation and development on a higher level.

Then I like to mention Mama Etka as an example. She is a perfect example of how a 56-year old sick lady can become a 94-year old „young lady” enjoying perfect health and vitality. Mama Etka was 56 years old when she was battling with a lot of disease and started doing yoga as she heard about the wonderful effects of it. By the age of 94 she established yoga centers where she was giving classes. On her birthday party she was doing headstand and split on the stage. If only I was in such a condition at the age of 94…

Yoga is the most ancient system of movement in the world and virtually we can discover its elements in almost all other movements. So let’s see what are the effects of yoga:

  • Relaxing and strenghtening the muscles, especially deep muscles (those muscles are especially important for our health)
  • Rehabilitation and maintaining of the flexibility of joints
  • Blood circulation improves, every body function starts operating better, especially in the detoxification functions
  • It stimulates the lymphatic and the hormonal system
  • Rehabilitation of respiratory system, capacity expansion
  • Harmonisation of the autonomic nervous system
  • Stress management
  • Sets proper weight by balancing the so-called doshas
  • Increases vitality
  • Restoration and regeneration of the skeletal system
  • It increases our performance, condition and has strengthening and body-shaping effect
  • Creates inner harmony and synchronizes the function of the two cerebral hemispheres, thus relieves stress, stimulates the central nervous system and increases the ability to concentrate
  • Boosts metabolism and thus stimulates the detoxification
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Restores the state of the subtle body, operation of energetics and the chakras

So impossible does not exist. Only your lazyness and faithlessness can keep you from what you can reach. The process is given and is perfect. It depends on us how much we take from it. We are looking forward to welcoming you on one of our classes!
